When myself, my wife and our two children (ages 9 and 5) were going to spend a fortnight in Sorrento, I was keen to organise a trip to Capri. But of course, going in early July, we were close to peak season, and I was equally keen not to feel herded onto a tourist boat. When I looked at the prices of the standard boats that take you to Capri and to visit the Blue Grotto, it looked like it would cost around €200-300 anyway for the four of us. I then had a nose around at what else was on offer, and came across Nautica Sic Sic. I dropped them an email and was immediately impressed by the speed of the response, the attention to detail, and the range of options available. Having digested all of them, I decided we would hire a small boat, with a skipper, for the day, at the cost of €420. In other words, for not much more than an extra hundred pounds, we were masters of our own itinerary, and with the services of an experienced skipper too. On the day, our skipper, Luca, oozed calm confidence and made us feel very much at ease. It's about a 40-60 minute trip across the sea to Capri, and we could see all the way across just how much the area relies on tourists and boats for its livelihood. But Luca was wonderful, giving us interesting little snippets of history all the way along the coastline. He has clearly been doing a job like this for some time, and wasn't fazed by any questions we threw at him. He offered us a choice of restaurants, but the first one he rang was fully booked unfortunately. I wonder what it's like, because our second choice, Da Gioia, was fantastic. We moored about a hundred metres from it, and a guy in a dinghy came and ferried us over to the jetty. We are wonderful fresh seafood (probably the best among some VERY good food throughout our trip), with some gorgeous wine, and watched the stunning views. We then, on Luca's recommendation, caught the little bus up to the main town, spent an hour or so there (too busy, too hot, wonderful views though), then came back down to catch up with Luca again. We then went on to complete our circuit of the island, stopping for a swim in the sea in a quiet-ish bay, and seeing the White and Green Grottos on the way round. Both are interesting to see, but I think the Blue Grotto is the standout one. The problem is that there's almost always a queue of boats, waiting to have their passengers transferred onto the little boats that take you in. And it's €11 per head, on top of whatever you pay to get there. We didn't want to spend an hour in a queue, so elected not to see it. Our children felt like film stars the whole day, lounging on the front deck of our little boat, we loved it too, Luca was superb, Nautica Sic Sic were excellent, and there isn't a single thing I'd change about the experience. If you can afford the little bit extra, it's superb. Possibly the highlight of our excellent holiday and highly recommended.
We hope that the sea will not transmit the same emotions that has been able to give to us. Leave a message in our guestbook to communicate your emotions.

“A breathtaking and wonderful experience!” Hello again, all you nice people at Nautica Sic Sic and of course to those who are reading this review considering to spend vacations in Sorrento on a boat! We had 3 days full of nice trips to Positano, Amalfi and its surroundings and of course to Capri... all of these destinations are recommendable, but especially all the nice bays and places you can only visit by boat. We were renting the Clipper, a good and reliable boat with everything you need on it. Thank you very much for helping us enjoying this vacation at it's finest. And special thanks to Carmine for your navigational introductions and tips for any kind of pleasure :) So, the best you can do for a great experience in Sorrento and the Amalfi coast - rent a boat at Nautica Sic Sic! Take care and see you next time! Miriam & Slawo
We have used this company twice and will book again next year 2016. They offer an excellent, sympatic, friendly and caring service. The choice of boats is wide and all in super condition. Boating in the Sorrento/Capri/Amalfi area is stunning and an opportunity not to be missed.
We rented a boat for the day, the first time we had done so. Before we got to our hotel we called in to arrange the day and were welcomed warmly by the owner, who was great fun. He even arranged a water taxi to allow us to arrive in style. The boat was great, tuition to driving clear and concise and we had an amazing day around Capri I would highly recommend nautica sic sic
